Labor Day is not only a holiday that is celebrated in the U.S, but is an annual holiday celebrated all over the world that resulted from efforts of the labor union movement, to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers.
As children of God, we are laborers for Christ, sent into the harvest fields of the world with the Gospel:
For we are labourers together with God… 1 Corinthians 3:9
Our work is continuous, and there is much to be done.
Then saith he (Jesus) unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. Matthew 9:37 & 38
God is our strength and support as we serve Him.
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name… Hebrews 6:10
We are to push ahead trusting God, not becoming weary as we labor for Him.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:9 & 10
Always remembering as you labor for Christ:
…for the joy of the LORD is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10
Prayer: Heavenly Father, as we are reminded about Labor Day, help us always to remember that we are first Your workers; laboring in Your harvest; serving You. You are our strength and joy. Let us not become weary in the tasks in which You have called us to serve. What a marvelous privilege we have — to go into all the world with Your message of eternal hope, in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior! Amen.
